Fixinit, an on-demand platform for home services, announced its release to connect homeowners needing HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work with contractors in real-time.
Background: The company was co-founded by an HVAC contractor (Josh) and his tech-savvy partner (Mark) when Josh saw the need to fill gaps in his team’s schedule and provide homeowners services on the same day.
- Inspired by the success of the “on-demand economy” (think Uber, DoorDash), the two thought: “What if you could find a service provider for essential tasks like HVAC and electrical repair with the same ease and speed as booking a ride?”
How it works: Homeowners — only in Utah for now — can visit Fixinit’s website, enter their address and the service they need, and get connected to a contractor.
- The company guarantees service prices will be “within the average for each community” and that contractors can be there within 60 minutes if needed.
For contractors: Fixinit says that by being on its platform, service providers can “tap into a larger customer base” and “optimize their schedules by accepting on-demand requests, reducing idle time and increasing productivity.”
- They also noted that “lead costs are a fraction of the other guys.”
What’s going on: Entrepreneurs recognize the convenience of on-demand platforms elsewhere and see the same dynamics in home services: consumers want speed, and businesses want jobs. And they’re betting that digital platforms are the best way to make that happen.
