AHRI last week released August shipment figures, showing increases across the board.
The big picture: While not perfect, shipments serve as a general proxy for the health of the replacement market.
Details: Combined shipments of central ACs and heat pumps topped 975,000 in August, up 11% year-over-year.
-
Heat pump shipments alone grew over 20% compared to last August.
Of note: 6.7 million total air conditioners and heat pumps were shipped from January to August, a 4% jump from the same period last year.
-
Why it matters: 2024 shipments are outpacing 2023, contrary to some early predictions, as we’ve covered before.
What’s next: AHRI will release September’s figures in the second week of November.
