Bluon launches “ChatGPT for HVAC techs”

Bluon

Bluon, the technician-focused software company, launched MasterMechanic, a product similar to ChatGPT, but designed for HVAC techs.

Quick refresher: Bluon (specifically, their app) provides technicians with model numbers, parts lists, manuals, and calculators for over 300,000 pieces of equipment – and 24/7 support for when they have diagnostic or troubleshooting questions. The app also connects contractors with local suppliers so techs can get quotes and place orders from the field.

Over time, Bluon has built up a massive set of parts and equipment data, along with 50,000+ support call recordings from techs that MasterMechanic learns from. It knows how technicians describe problems, and in turn, how to provide practical guidance. It’s designed to give techs answers to specific, complex problems they come across in the field.

How it works: Techs simply ask it a question (through voice or by typing), and it generates an answer in easy-to-understand language.

MasterMechanic is currently in beta, and only available to the public until October 31st.

The backdrop: Improving productivity per existing employee plays a key role in addressing the labor shortage. Enabling technicians to solve problems faster in the field by equipping them with advanced technologies like machine learning (which MasterMechanic utilizes) can aid in doing so.
