A large swath of the U.S. is set to face above-normal temperatures in July, according to the National Weather Service’s preliminary outlook, released Thursday.
What’s happening: The Pacific Northwest has the highest chance — 60 to 70 percent — of experiencing above-normal temperatures during the month, with ‘normal’ defined as the 30-year average, while the southern half of the East Coast, including all of Florida, has a 50 to 60 percent chance.
- Meanwhile, a cutout spanning the Great Plains through the Midwest faces equal chances of temperatures being above or below normal.
Looking ahead: The National Weather Service will release a final July outlook on June 30.
