Kickserv, the field service software company, revealed in a blog post on Friday that it was acquired by EverCommerce in August. It’s unclear why, but the post has since been taken down.
The past: Initially a web application in 1994, the company went through multiple iterations before re-launching as Kickserv in 2012. Then after selling the company in 2014, founder Todd Eccles re-purchased it in 2021.
The present: EverCommerce owns a portfolio of industry-focused software companies, including ServiceFusion and Profit Rhino, serving over 240,000 home service businesses. Kickserv should become a part of this portfolio, called EverPro.
In the blog post, Kickserv mentioned the investment “means more resources to improve upon our product at a faster pace than ever before”.
Deal logic: As a public company forecasting ~$700 million in revenue this year, EverCommerce needs to grow. Acquiring Kickserv adds a new set of customers (and the associated revenues) to their base, and gives them opportunities to cross-sell other EverPro products.
Looking ahead: It’s likely that as acquirers invest resources into the software companies they buy, the platforms become even more like one-stop shops — with new functionality and more integrations available.
