U.S. wholesale prices for both plumbing fixtures and residential gas water heaters in December posted yearly gains, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.
What’s happening: A plumbing fixture-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI) — which measures the average change over time in the selling prices domestic manufacturers receive for their products — rose 10.3 percent year-over-year in the month.

Of note: The index remained flat from July to November.

Meanwhile, wholesale prices for residential gas water heaters rose a similar 9.4 percent year-over-year in December, with most of that growth occurring from April to May.
