JobSnap looks to connect contractors directly with homeowners

JobSnap, a platform aiming to “revolutionize how contractors and homeowners connect,” has launched for customers in New York and Connecticut.
The company is an expansion of Connecticut-based founder James Albis’s previous company, SnoHub, which allowed customers to request snow removal services on demand.
Details: Its mobile app lets homeowners post details and pictures of services they need — HVAC, painting, pest control, etc. Contractors can then see them in real-time, accept a job (if they wish), schedule it, and collect payment — all within the app.
- “JobSnap empowers service providers and contractors to directly engage with homeowners, bypassing the traditional high costs of lead generation and marketing,” said the press release.
In comparison: The company differentiates itself from other gig-economy platforms like Angi and Thumbtack in a few ways, including charging contractors $97/month instead of $200+/month.
- Contractors can view nearby jobs in real time, and talk with homeowners to know their budgets before accepting a job.
The big picture: Local publication HamletHub highlighted what’s happening: “The introduction of JobSnap in the digital marketplace is a significant step forward in modernizing the home service industry… it represents a new way of thinking about home services, characterized by convenience, reliability, and accessibility.”
