U.S. shipments of both gas and electric residential water heaters dropped in February, compared to last year, AHRI reported Friday.
What’s happening: Shipments of gas storage water heaters fell 9.2 percent year-over-year during the month to nearly 342,000 units, while electric water heater shipments sank 10.9 percent to roughly 379,000 units.
Zoom out: Year-to-date, shipments of gas water heaters are down 10.4 percent compared to the same period in 2025, and electric shipments are down 7.9 percent.
State of play: The figures also fell in January, following a roughly flat 2025, when a modest uptick in shipments of gas water heaters was offset by a slight decline in electric water heater shipments, as Homepros previously reported.
