Carrier on Monday announced a new initiative, called “TechVantage,” to hire 1,000 U.S. service technicians and train an additional 100,000 over the next five years.

The big picture: “The demand for skilled service technicians in the U.S. has never been greater, and Carrier is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation,” said Carrier CEO David Gitlin.

What’s happening: The company will establish apprenticeship programs and partner with vocational schools and technical institutes across the country, while continuing its existing training programs at its Charlotte and Indianapolis facilities.

  • “In 2024 alone, Carrier delivered nearly 132,000 hours of training across its Commercial and Residential HVAC businesses in the U.S. through in-person, virtual, and online platforms, training approximately 20,000 service technicians,” the announcement said

The bottom line: By launching the initiative, Carrier aims to “attract, develop, and empower the very best talent,” Gitlin added.
