U.S. wholesale prices of HVAC equipment remained effectively flat in March, according to newly released data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
What’s happening: An HVAC-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI), which measures the average change over time in the selling prices domestic manufacturers receive for their products, nudged up just 0.3 percent from February.
Zoom out: Compared to March 2025, the reading is up 5.2 percent, though the bulk of that growth occurred between March and June 2025, as Homepros previously reported.
- The figure is up 46.6 percent since March 2021.
The big picture: Overall PPI, covering a range of goods and services across industries, increased by 0.5 percent in March, the agency reported Tuesday, well below the 1.1 percent economists had expected, given the war in Iran and its impact on fuel prices.
