PHCC’s Educational Foundation is expanding the number of awards offered through its scholarship program this year, the contractor association announced Tuesday.
What’s happening: The foundation plans to award 75 scholarships totaling $180,000 to HVAC and plumbing apprentices employed by PHCC members, as well as those enrolled in HVAC or plumbing programs at trade schools or colleges.
- Awards will range from $1,500 to $10,000, with most set at $3,000, per the announcement. The deadline to submit applications is May 1.
What they’re saying: “We don’t want to see talented people forced to step away from training simply because of cost,” John Zink, a vice president at PHCC’s Educational Foundation, said in a statement.
- “These scholarships help to remove that obstacle. That can mean helping an apprentice get enrolled, supporting a technician trying to advance, or allowing an employer to redirect training dollars where they’re needed most,” he added.
