U.S. wholesale prices of HVAC equipment stayed effectively flat in February, according to newly released data.
What’s happening: An HVAC-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI), which measures the average change over time in the selling prices domestic manufacturers receive for their products, inched up just 0.1 percent from January, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Wednesday.
Zoom out: Compared to February 2025, the reading is up 4.4 percent, though the bulk of that growth occurred between March and June 2025, as Homepros previously reported.
- The figure is up 47.1 percent since February 2021.
The big picture: Overall PPI, covering a range of goods and services across industries, increased by 0.7 percent in February, more than twice as much as economists had forecast, “adding evidence that stubborn price increases persisted in the economy even before the Iran war began,” the Wall Street Journal wrote.
