An HVAC-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI) increased just 0.36 percent during the month, compared to December 2025
U.S. wholesale prices of HVAC equipment were effectively unmoved in January.
What’s happening: An HVAC-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI) — which measures the average change over time in the selling prices domestic manufacturers receive for their products — increased just 0.36 percent during the month, compared to December 2025, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.
Between the lines: Compared to January 2025, the reading is up five percent, though most of that rise occurred between March and June 2025 — the index has remained roughly flat since then.
Zoom out: The figure has climbed 48 percent since January 2021.
