With summer unofficially behind us, here’s a look at our five most-read stories from August:

HVAC shipments fall 22% in June. “Manufacturers shipped nearly 841,000 combined units during the month, down 22 percent from the same month last year… The release marks the first time since 2010 that HVAC manufacturers shipped fewer ACs and heat pumps in June than in May.” (Full story)

Lennox to acquire HVAC parts brands for $550 million. “Lennox announced that it’s purchasing the HVAC division of NSI Industries from private equity firm Sentinel Capital Partners… The division houses several brands that produce a range of HVAC parts and accessories, including Duro Dyne and Supco.” (Full story)

Daikin reports ‘sluggish’ residential demand in Q2. “Daikin saw North American sales volumes drop eight percent year-over-year during the second quarter, along with soft residential demand, a company spokesman said on its earnings call… The results reflect findings from Lennox, which reported a similar nine percent year-over-year decrease in residential unit volumes.” (Full story)

EPA hints at extending HVAC sell-through deadline. “EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin on August 22 suggested that the agency may extend the January 1, 2026, deadline for installing residential and light commercial air conditioning and heat pump systems using components manufactured or imported before this year.” (Full story)

HVAC wholesale prices inch up in July, reach all-time high. “A figure that shows how U.S. wholesale prices of HVAC equipment have changed over time hit its highest level ever in July, new data [from the Bureau of Labor Statistics] shows.” (Full story)
