HVAC shipments jump in June, extending recovery streak
Shipments of air conditioners drove the month’s trend, growing 26.8 percent year-over-year, while heat pump shipments increased by 15.1 percent

U.S. combined shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in June rose 21.7 percent year-over-year, according to AHRI data released Friday.
Why it matters: That marks the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year growth in combined shipments — and the biggest jump within that stretch — following a nine-month streak of declines that began in May 2025.
Zoom in: Shipments of air conditioners, in particular, drove the month’s trend, growing 26.8 percent year-over-year, while heat pump shipments increased by 15.1 percent.
- Of note: Historically, June is one of the strongest months for HVAC shipments — and Friday’s release comes against an easy comparison, as combined A/C and heat pump shipments in June 2025 fell 22 percent year-over-year.
- AHRI data also includes commercial equipment.
Year-to-date: From January to June, manufacturers shipped nearly 4.72 million A/Cs and heat pumps, up three percent from the same period in 2025.
Looking ahead: AHRI will release July’s shipment figures on the second Friday of September.
