U.S. wholesale prices of HVAC equipment grew steadily throughout 2025.
What’s happening: An HVAC-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI) — which measures the average change over time in the selling prices domestic manufacturers receive for their products — rose five percent year-over-year in December, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.

Between the lines: The sharpest climb came earlier in the year, between March and June — the index remained roughly flat through the rest of 2025.

Zoom out: The figure is up 49.4 percent over the past five years, though the bulk of that growth occurred between December 2020 and July 2022.
