NWS issues final August temperature outlook

The National Weather Service (NWS) on Friday released its final August temperature outlook, following a preliminary version from mid-July.
What’s happening: The final outlook widened the zone forecast to experience above-normal temperatures during the month to much of the lower 48 states, with normal defined as the 30-year average.
- New England previously carried at least a 33 percent chance of facing above-normal temps; however, the updated outlook moved the region to equal chances of temperatures being above, near, or below normal.
- Meanwhile, the highest odds of above-normal temperatures now span much of Texas and Oklahoma, as well as the California coast, displacing the Southeast, the previous version’s highest-odds region.
