Plumbing wholesale prices barely budged in March

U.S. wholesale prices of plumbing fixtures in March barely moved, compared to the prior month, newly released federal data shows. 

What’s happening: A plumbing fixture-specific ‘producer price index’ (PPI), which measures the average change over time in the selling prices domestic manufacturers receive for their products, grew just 0.4 percent from February, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

  • Compared to March 2025, the index is up 9.9 percent.

Meanwhile, wholesale prices for residential gas water heaters were unchanged in March, extending a streak of effectively no growth since May 2025.
