HVAC shipments rise in April, extending recovery streak to three months
Shipments of air conditioners, in particular, rose eight percent year-over-year during the month, while heat pump shipments increased by 1.8 percent

U.S. shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps grew 5.1 percent year-over-year in April, according to AHRI data released Friday.
Why it matters: That marks three consecutive months when combined shipments grew compared to the prior year, following a nine-month streak of declines that began in April 2025.
Zoom in: Shipments of air conditioners, in particular, rose eight percent year-over-year during the month, while heat pump shipments increased by 1.8 percent — a flip from March, when heat pumps led the growth.
The big picture: From January to April, combined shipments totaled roughly 2.77 million units, down 3.5 percent from the same period in 2025.
